February Blog Statistics – Month 2

in Monthly Reviews

Well I can’t believe that it has been another month already! It can be easy to get discouraged in February because it is that bit shorter than the rest of the months but I am happy with my results so far and I would love to share them with you.

The reason that I share my blog statistics is to provide transparency and integrity. I see a lot of bloggers and internet marketers who are claiming to have the answer to everyone’s problems.

I don’t know about you, but I find it hard to trust these people. And I figured that if I can map our my journey from the start – you will be able to look back at my results and they will become my most important  testimonial.

So I will jump straight into it, and reference back to my January Blog Statistics so you can see how my blog has grown in the last month.

February’s Blog Posts

Promoting your blog is fantastic, but you need to have the quality content to convince your visitors to keep coming back and subscribe. That is why it is important to me to be consistently be creating solid blog posts for this blog (plus the search engine traffic is nice too!)

In January I wrote 7 Posts

But I was aiming to smash that out of the water in February and ended up with 13 blog posts in February.

This is not as many as I would have liked (20 would have been better) but I did a couple of guest posts as well so it isn’t to bad.

Here’s A List Of My February Blog Posts:

The main reason for my comment count increasing dramatically in the last couple of posts was due to the addion of  a Threaded Comments plugin, but you have all increase your commenting as well – so thankyou!

Most Tweeted Posts:

So in all, it seems like my content was pretty popular!

Guest Posts

Last month I only did one guest post, so I wanted to really ‘up the anty’ with that and here is how I did:

Three is a nice improvement on one, and I currentl have a couple more that will be out this month!

I think guest posting has been a major driver of my blog traffic and I see that a few of you have made the transition from reading my guest posts to becoming a regular commentator here (so thank you!) And I have received some extra backlinks to my major key phrase (free squeeze pages) as well – which is always nice.

Subscribers

RSS and email subscribers areboth extremely important to me. RSS subscribers, along with SEO traffic are the life blood of my blog traffic – while email list subscribers is the main reason we are all here (to build large profitable lists). So I really wanted to see increases in both of these numbers and here is how I did:

RSS Subscribers: 69 (Up from 25 in January!)

Email List Subscribers: 74 (Up from 19 in January!)

Now I know both of these numbers are not massive yet, but they both has close to 200% growth and with the stuff I have planned for this month I am hoping to see a similar result again at the end of March.

Oh and my Twitter account is growing nicely too at 204 Followers (@BuildThatListCo)

Blog Traffic Stats

In January I had 643 visits I was was aiming for somewhere in the 1,500 ballpark in February.

Which means I was pleasantly surprised when I saw that I had received 2,278 Visits(according to Google Analytics) in February.

These figures include:

  • 1,670 Absolute Unique Visitors
  • 4,348 Pageviews
  • 3:05min Average Time On Site
  • 225 Search Engine Visitors

Search Engine Traffic

I didn’t receive any search engine traffic in January because my blog was brand new, so seeing that almost 10% of my traffic this month was generated through search engine traffic so let me break down my ‘traffic generating keywords’.

The rest were a heap of 1-3 searches keywords.

Seeing the pages that are bringing you long term traffic gives you the opportunity to know which posts are the best to restructure to increase conversion and profit (something I still need to do!)

Top 10 Referring Website:

(All bloggers listed I linked through to one of their amazing posts so you can see why you should subscribe to their blogs)

Thanks to all these great blogs (and websites) for the traffic you have provided :D

Well that is about it for another month. Make sure you subscribe to my rss feed so that you can keep track of my progress and come back again in another month to see how this blog has improved!

This post was really just a result of my own personaly analysis of my blog so that I know where to improve, but I love to hear your thoughts!

Great work, Tom! :D

That’s a really impressive stat-list you’ve got there considering the age of the blog, and the comment count on your recent posts is awesome; something I’ve been trying to work towards from the start is a 30 comment/post average and looks like you’re hitting that in the last few posts with ease, so nice one!

Also, I hope that this month I can send you some more traffic, especially with your guest post going out on my blog yesterday (see CommentLuv, people! ;) ).

Good luck for March Tom, keep hitting those targets :D

Good going. Interesting you have more email subs than RSS. I’ve got about twice as many to the RSS as via email. I guess email is better!

Keep squeezing them. I agree, guest posts are the way to go.

[Reply]

Tom Reply:

I love RSS subscribers because they are they epople who dirve the discussion on my posts and are the community that surround my blog – but as for profitability I would much rather email subscribers. But speaking of the difference in my figures I had a nice jump in RSS subscribers overnight and it is now more than my email subscribers!

Nice job Tom – a very big jump in some of the key metrics. Blogging is a lot of fun isn’t it? I’m really enjoying working out how to find my audience and increase subscription rates. What are your next plans for global domination?

Thanks Brian! It is not necessarily an ‘A-lister’ that I am aiming for, because I think a lot of them are not making as much money as we think they are. I just want a really strong and growing community and a profitable blog! I I get some ‘fame’ out if it, then that is nice too :D

Over 4000 pageviews in just your 2nd month, that’s really very impressive. I’m also surprised to see how many retweets you get, clearly you’re focusing on quality posts rather than quantity.

Keep it up :)

Great results Tom. You are making a lot of progress on all fronts!!!

Yes, commenting first on major blogs like Problogger does bring a lot of traffic.

Tom, are you using a real time feed reader? I am asking because you commented on some of my posts minutes after they got published.

I use a program called RSS Owl and it allows you to set the interval that it checks for new posts. I have it set at 5minutes currently (which enables me to comment quite soon after a post is written!)

This is truly an inspiration, especially for new bloggers. I think more blogs need to post this type of progress report to give a realistic view of what’s really happening in regards to traffic. I think I will do a progress report for mine as well when the time comes.

Hi there,
I really enjoyed reading your progress. I think your subscribers will give you greater value because they are interested in a specific niche ‘list building’ rather than “blogging” which converts lots of topics within blogging.

Good luck!
