in Build That List Using the Internet

All this talk about my upcoming e-course and the great discussion that was created in the comments has got me thinking about membership sites and the great opportunity that it would create for regular bloggers.

So being the type of person that I am, I wanted to find out who was doing it well – who was profiting from this online business model.

While there are a lot of people doing really well with membership sites, but one person who really stands out for me is Yaro Starak.

As many of you know Yaro has very much been a big inspiration to my whole blogging journey and has had great success with hisblog training membership site, Blog Mastermind.

Well, in case you didn’t know, Yaro also has a membership site on how to launch your own membership site (which is kinda like my email list teaching people how to build their own list :P ) which I am really interested in – and currently considering joining.

But that all aside, he also has an amazing free resource available – a quality ebook called ‘The Membership Site Masterplan‘ that I highly recommend you download if you have even the slightest interest in membership site.

If you have read Yaro’s blog or any of his free resources before you would know that what he classifies as a free resources are usually well above the caliber of most paid products. This is not some quickly pulled together promotion resources – but a full of information, quality resource that will help you decide if the whole ‘membership site’ thing is right for you.

This is something I will look into later down the road if I decide to create a membership site. Just have my hands tied with my blog right now. Of all people, I know you would understand Tom :)

Couldn’t understand more. That is the main reason I am trying to decide if I have the time to dedicate to setting up a membership site at the moment. Maybe I will wait until my blog grows a bit larger.

read the free e-book ..very informative …but one has to grow and be (somewhat ) of an authority before membership sites can really work..work

Tom Reply:

But the thing is, that everyone has some sort of authority. While you may not consider youself an expert, to those who know less than you – maybe you are?

well, you are right..the problem is sometimes we think too big…100 000 daily traffic and others…before we consider ourselves as authorities

Tom – I’m getting a professional website built at the moment and have been torn on the membership idea. I think you need to have a large and loyal reader base to make it really work, and so I’m going to wait a bit longer before really thinking about it. Probably more likely to scare away readers right now. interesting post – thank you.

Thanks Tom. I signed up to receive the ebook and hope to find some time this weekend to read through it. I have been thinking for a membership site in one of the niches I’m rather successfull but haven’t had the time or money to follow a paid course. This might help in getting the first steps done.

Tom,

You’re right Yaro is an inspiration to any blogger, either established or new. I was signed up to his newsletter, however I unsubscribed because he was way ahead of where I was up to. I’m currently working hard to establish a healthy readership, anything more than that just adds work I’m not ready for. I’ll certainly consider looking at Yaro’s stuff later on.

Thanks for sharing this.

Regards

Paul

That is a really good point, and something I was discussing with a new blogger who came to me for some advice yesterday. I laid a lot of different options out in front of him at the start and explained them all – but said you don’t want to focus on everything. You need a simple strategy to get started and for him that was post quality content regularly, comment of other blogs with valuable input, and to start building an email list.

I am glad to hear that you are focusing!

I am actually just reading it right now. It is 72 pages long, and the first couple of pages are just inspiration, but he talks about launching the membership site from your blog and other great stuff like that. I am going to take some time and really get into the content, because this is a path that I really want to take in the future.

Membership site, hmm… I don’t know. Perhaps a simple blog written quickly at any time and about anything like my blog was not adequate. I love Yaro eBook. I am very inspired when I first read blog profit blueprint (who isn’t?). And know I will achieve success like that, I hope: D
