Facebook is transforming its social networking web site into something similar like the “White Pages” online. Following the trend of Spock. com and ZoomInfo. So if your profile is not private and can’t only be seen by your friend, anyone can have access to your mobile telephone, date of birth, interests or events you will attend.
This site is a goldmine to anyone who want to exploit people’s private information this to include identity thieves, hackers, cyber criminal and of course the all prominent advertisers. Indeed they will have all the information to target YOU. Considering that Facebook has 39million members it really is a great opportunity for marketeers. The new regulation will come into force in the beginning of October 2007 – so you still have one month to change your settings and protect your Facebook profile.
